INCLUSIVE BUSINESS CENTER
Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the Philippines’ largest corporate-led social development organization committed to poverty reduction and corporate social responsibility, is at a strategic position to effectively lead the promotion and implementation of this rapidly growing concept of Inclusive Business due to its experience, reputation, and access to resources. It is at the forefront of the INCLUSIVE BUSINESS CENTER(IB) – a nationwide advocacy to promote and adopt Inclusive Business (IB) as a core business activity that embraces the poor within the company’s value chain.
As the IB Lead Convener, PBSP initiates the creation of an enabling environment for the implementation of IB projects. This environment matches the needs of the companies with those of the Base of the Pyramid (BOP). PBSP also leads the development of an appropriate infrastructure, policies, and support services to ensure support to the sustainable IB projects.
PBSP also organizes and facilitates dialogue among various stakeholders. These discussions aim to address issues to advance the awareness on IB, drive innovation, and encourage companies to change the way business is done.
Recently, PBSP pursued in the promotion of Inclusive Agribusiness as its pilot project under its IBI Center. Discussions with various sectors have been conducted to identify the needs of the sectors, farmers, and companies to implement Inclusive Agribusiness projects. PBSP also conducts forums to provide a venue for a dialogue to discuss Inclusive Agribusiness concerns. The IB forum recently conducted was Inclusive Agribusiness Financing.
For this pilot project, PBSP is working with three entities engaged in IB projects which involve and benefit Base of the Pyramid households. These are Nestle Philippines, Kennemer Foods International, Inc., and Bali Oil Palm Multipurpose Cooperative.
The IBI Center also conducts market and industry research, develops IB investment plans, manages secretariat support, monitors and assesses impact, documents, and initiates knowledge sharing to facilitate the development of IB business models.
